Suffragette City is a Manchester-based club night held annually to mark International Women’s Day. We celebrate female and non-binary DJ talent and raise funds for local grass roots charities supporting women and gender minorities.

2022 Event

Event date: Sat March 5th
Time 3pm-3am
Venue: Brickhouse and Kable Club, New Wakefield Street, Manchester
DJ Line-up: TBA

This year we are bringing people together over 3 floors of our new venue Brickhouse Social Club/Kable Club on New Wakefield Street, Manchester, in the hope that we can raise even more to support local charities at a time when they need it most.

With a roof terrace, bar area and club space (with Funktion One soundsystem) we’ve got room for even more DJs and more dancers! Our exciting line-up is taking shape and will be released very soon.

Special thanks to Anna Duffy for our lovely artwork.

PLEASE NOTE: Covid protocols will be announced nearer the event date.

Fundraising

Each year we have succeeded in raising substantial sums for local grass roots charities through ticket sales and merchandise. Everyone who works on Suffragette City gives their time free of charge to support these worthwhile causes. As well as donating to our carefully chosen organisations, we seek to raise the profile of their work through our promotional efforts.

This year’s charities:

Fortalice Refuge in Bolton

Fortalice provides frontline services including a refuge with 22 flats, training and group work for victims who are, or have been affected by domestic abuse and violence.

Emmeline’s Pantry Foodbank in Manchester

Emmeline’s Pantry is entirely volunteer led by a dedicated group of women and supporters who started out in a hallway providing clothes to women. Five years on, the foodbank now provides food, clothes, toiletries and baby items to women in need and their families.

The Proud Trust ‘s ‘Femolition Squad’ support and social group for young trans-femme people (Manchester)

The Proud Trust is a life-saving and life-enhancing organisation that helps LGBT+ young people empower themselves and their communities. We are supporting Femolition Squad, a group for trans feminine young people.

Odd Arts – Consent / Sexual Assault Reduction workshops for young people.

‘Consent’ is an interactive forum theatre performance and workshop using professional actors and specialist facilitators to explore key issues around consent and sexual assault. There is a post-performance discussion to explore many of the wider and complex themes and so called ‘grey areas’ around consent, sexual assault and rape. Watch this video to understand more.
